Cursor · custom API key
Run Cursor on your own key and pay per token.
Cursor can send chat requests to any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. Point it at Model.sale, add the model names below, and watch the exact charge of every request in your dashboard.
Setup in four steps
- Create an API key in the dashboard and add at least $5.
- In Cursor open Settings, then Models, and paste the key into the OpenAI API key field.
- Turn on Override OpenAI Base URL and enter
https://api.model.sale/v1. - Add a custom model with the exact ID from the table below, for example
gpt-6-sol, and select it in the chat.
Some Cursor features use Cursor's own models and do not use your key. Check Cursor's current documentation for which features accept a custom key.
Models you can use in Cursor today
Live prices per 1M charged tokens. Cursor uses the Chat Completions endpoint, so only models that list it are shown.
| Model ID | Price / 1M charged tokens |
|---|---|
gpt-6-luna | $0.08 |
glm-5.3-flash | $0.10 |
gpt-5.6-terra | $0.15 |
glm-5.3 | $0.15 |
gpt-6-sol | $0.38 |
gpt-6.1-sol | $0.40 |
gpt-6-astra | $1.125 |
Start with the smaller model for routine edits and move up when a task needs it. See what a coding session costs before running long agent tasks.
Keep the bill under control
- Create a separate key for Cursor with a daily spend limit and an allowed-model list.
- The balance is prepaid and never goes below zero, so an agent loop cannot exceed what you deposited.
- Every request shows its exact charge and request ID in the dashboard.
